This fascinating historical document is very rare! Andress Small Floyd was a Wall-Street lawyer who at the turn of the 20th Century left his profession due to burn-out and drinking problems. After he got his life on track he decided to establish a self-help colony for vagabonds and hobos on a farm in Union, NJ. He insisted that the key to sobriety was gaining self-esteem through self-mastery. He called his colony a monastery and referred to the men who lived and worked there as the "Monks of Vagabondia."
This hand-printed hardback book is a 1st Edition copy printed on the colony's handpress by the "monks." Floyd inscribed one page in ink. See Photos. You can find facsimile copies of this book online on a print-on-demand basis, but it is *very rare* to find one of these handcrafted first edition copies! The condition is good. The binding is beginning to show a bit of separation on back cover, but is still intact. No missing pages, all clean and unmarked. See all photos!
