What a wonderful piece of history! This solid iron tailors flat iron was used to create permanent pleats in clothing. This required heat and weight, hence the 24lbs it weighs. Made in the 1800's, these were some of the first commercial irons to be used. This piece measures 11" x 8" x 2 1/2", features a textured handle, and raised markings, one of which represents its weight.
