Cut glass clear and black briolette-shaped beads, circa 1930s, possibly Czech or Austrian made, strung on old style wire with two vintage looking crimp beads. Before Daniel Swarovski's invention of the Aurora Borealis finish in 1955, clear crystal beads got their sparkle from precision cutting of the facets. These are a classic example. In very good to excellent vintage condition, with minor fleabites to the bead facets that are not noticeable without close scrutiny. One clear bead is missing in the center section, but this does not show because of the number and direction of the beads. A fabulous necklace for New Year's Eve, a Black and White Ball, or any time you want to sparkle.
♦ Dimensions: The necklace is 17.5 inches (44.5 cm) in length. Black beads are 20 x 10 mm; the clear are 20 x 7 mm. There are 3 faceted round beads on each end that are 8 mm. Weight is 165.8 grams or 5.85 ounces.
♦ Markings: A mark on the clasp that is undecipherable, clasp tests as 925 silver.
