Vintage Handmade Caribbean Terracotta Pot with Lizard Motif – Nevis Folk Art Pottery
This is a unique handcrafted terracotta low-temperature fired pot likely from the Caribbean island of Nevis, featuring a charming sculpted lizard or iguana wrapped around the vessel. The pot has an organic, uneven form and shows signs of traditional open-fire kiln firing, such as natural blackening and firing spots.
Marked “NEVIS / DP” on the base, likely indicating the island and initials of the maker. This is a piece of vernacular Caribbean folk pottery, possibly made in the second half of the 20th century. Its earthy red clay body and whimsical design make it a collectible example of island craft and cultural heritage.
Perfect for collectors of Caribbean or folk pottery, rustic interiors, ethnographic art lovers.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. No cracks or repairs. Signs of traditional firing and some minor irregularities consistent with handcraft. Please view all photos carefully because
