This is a beautiful and unique Vintage Victorian-style, Mid Century Italian Florentine Wood picture plaque. The process of this rare find is a paper picture applied on Florentine Wood and then covered in a decoupage type of material. This picture was made in Italy and is from the mid-20th Century. I love how the gold-colored portions of the unique shaped edges around the famous scene (“L’Innocence” by Nicolas Lancret) are raised, as are the rosettes….it makes for such an interesting piece.
The wood carved and gilded frame is stunning and entire piece measures 25 1/2” by 25 1/2”.
