The book is dedicated to Sherards wife, Irene Osgood. Osgood has inscribed and signed this book to a "Mr. Ester" for Christmas 1909!
This is a RARE book, but having such a signature makes it extremely rare!
"Sherard was a friend of Oscar Wildes, his primary biographer in the early twentieth century, and wrote numerous biographies on prominent French writers. Sherard counted as Sherards acquaintances are Pierre Louÿs, Ferdinand de Lesseps, Jules Verne, and Alphonse Daudet. "
