VINTAGE CHINESE GINGER JAR//STORAGE JAR

This is a Vintage Chinese ginger jar, which is a type of porcelain container with a lid, originally used in China to store and transport spices and herbs, particularly ginger.
Ginger jars originated in China during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and were primarily functional, used for storing goods like herbs, spices, and even precious items. They are typically characterized by a rounded body, broad shoulders, a wide mouth, and a high, domed lid.
While originally utilitarian, ginger jars became highly prized for their decorative qualities, especially during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD). They often feature intricate designs like floral motifs, landscapes, and traditional Chinese symbols.
This jar is in great vintage condition. No chips or cracks. There are a few rough feeling spots on the edge of the lid, but does not affect the usage of the jar or affect it visually for decoration. Measures 6” tall. Lovely collectible.
