This is a vintage Original Dahl Jensen sculpture number #1096 - A Little Boy Reading figurine.
It features a little boy sitting on a rock and intently reading a book. It is signed with the crown mark, DJ, Copenhagen, Denmark, 1096 and HM. It is beautifully painted, a lovely piece in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage. Approximately 6" tall. NO BOX - it does not come with the original box.
Jens Peter Jensen was a prolific sculptor working for both Royal Copenhagen and Bing and Grondahl in the early 1900s. In 1925 he decided to open his own business – The Dahl Jensen Porcelainfabrik in Copenhagen. Along with his son, Georg Jensen, they produced underglaze decorated figures and more unusual figurines. The factory remained a family business producing a small number of top quality items. He died in 1960 and the factory closed in 1985.
